The citizens of Sierra-Leone are facing lots of difficult conditions which should not have been so, their leaders lack Management/Leadership qualities which have always been a problem in third world countries. A country like Sierra-Leone with huge natural resource (Diamond) and with a population of less than six million (6, million) people is still struggling to survive, this is terrible.
Viewers Corner learned that the roads leading to the site where this natural resource (Diamond) is located is horrible, various towns and villages within that area have no good roads at all. Then the question Viewers Corner is asking the Sierra-Leone government is, where are the proceeds derive from the sales of this natural resource (Diamond)? Why not use part of it and construct roads, create jobs, food and good health care system for the citizens. Again, Viewers Corner noted selfishness on the part of the President of Sierra-Leone because the road leading to his own town where he came from in Sierra-Leone is properly tarred, then why not do the same in all other areas of the country most especially where the natural resource is produced for easy accessibility. Places like Kono district of Sierra-Leone is terribly affected and that is where all the diamonds are located, very sad situation. Before this President, Ernest Bai Koroma took over office, he was from a middle class family but now he is among the richest President in Africa. He enriched himself with the country’s wealth while the citizens of Sierra-Leone who voted him into office can barely feed and this is very wrong and should be regarded as inhumane treatment against the citizens of Sierra-Leone.
Viewers Corner’s source in Sierra Leone told us that the president of Sierra-Leone is trying to see if he could lobby the law makers to change some aspect of the constitution that says any elected President should not stay more than two terms in office which is four years each.
However, the world is watching him but in Africa everything is possible. Gnassingbe Eyadema of Togo ruled his country for a very long time until he died on sit as a President.
