SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS VICE CHAIRMAN, LEE JAE-YONG HAS BEEN NAMED ONE OF THE COMPANY’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

Lee Jae-yong, the Samsung Electronics vice chairman and the only son of its ailing chairman (74 year-old Lee Kun-hee) has been nominated to join the company’s board of directors on Monday, September 12, 2016. According to the information our correspondent in Seoul, South Korea gathered, the company said in a statement that Lee’s nomination to the board which could not wait until it’s next shareholders meeting in 2017 is to allow him participate more actively in the company. Recently Samsung was hit with unprecedented smartphone recall, the South Korean company has recalled about 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 smartphones earlier this month and has advised its consumers worldwide to stop using the phone immediately due to safety concerns. Lee Jae-yong is 48 years old and a graduate of Harvard university, he has been making key decision in the company since 2014 his father was hospitalized after suffering from a heart attack.
