HIGHLIGHTS ON WOMEN’S OLYMPICS FOOTBALL QUARTER FINALS.

In a quarter finals match between China and Germany, it was a big fight between the two teams at the Fonte Nova Arena in Salvador. Germany and China fought each other in 2016 Rio Olympics women’s soccer quarterfinals but at the end, Germany was able to advance to semi finals by scoring one goal against China. Melanie Behringer of Germany saved Germany in 1-0 win by hitting a nice shot at the 76th minute which China goalkeeper, Zhao Lina was unable to stop.
Canada also advances to semi-finals of the women’s football tournament by defeating France with a 1-0 win. Sophie Schmidt of Canada scored against France in the second-half (56th minute) of the match.
Sweden
Sweden will also play in the semi-finals of the women’s Olympic football tournament. Sweden beats the three-time defending champions (United States) in penalties shoot-out following a 1-1 draw in the quarterfinals at Mane Garrincha Stadium on Friday. It was unbelievable because the Americans were considered as the team with the strongest collection of players in the tournament and this is the first time the United States won’t win an Olympic medal in women’s soccer. Brazilian women also advances to semi-final of the women’s Olympic football tournament. Brazil knocked Australia’s Matildas out of the women’s football at Rio 2016 Olympics in a penalty shoot-out. The Australian side had an incredible fighting spirit but unfortunately Brazil defeated them with 7-6 in a penalty shootout.
Canada will play against Germany in a semi-finals of women’s Olympic football on Tuesday, August 16th at Belo Horizonte while Brazil faces Sweden on the same Tuesday.
