It was reported that not less than 15 people were killed after fire broke out at Rohingya refugee camp in Balukhali, southern Bangladesh on Monday, 22 March 2021. According to the report, the fire destroyed hundreds of shelters in the camp and thousands were homeless. Louise Donovan, a spokesperson for the United Nations’ refugee agency said that about 400 people were still missing and around 560 were wounded by the fire. Also about 45,000 people were displaced by the fire which broke out on Monday afternoon. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. Over one million Rohingya Muslims have been sheltered by Bangladesh after the Rohingya Muslims fled Myanmar in 2017, following a crackdown by Myanmar’s military.
