Corruption in Ebonyi state is not a new thing and also lack of leadership qualities among the ruling class in the state is another issue that is preventing Ebonyi state from moving forward. Recently the speaker of Ebonyi state House of Assembly, Hon. Ogbonnaya Francis Nwifuru was accused of embezzling some amount of money which was estimated to be about sixty million Naira and this same speaker is now accusing the commissioners in Ebonyi state of being lazy and unable to do the job for which they were appointed to do. We (Viewers Corner) believe that before you accuse any commissioner of corruption, laziness and not being able to work properly, you have to ask yourself some few questions or are you among governor David Umahi’s close associates who do not see the governor’s poor leadership in Ebonyi state? The House speaker should direct his blames to governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state and not the commissioners because the state commissioners are not given proper tools to work in the state. Again our (Viewers corner) findings revealed that governor David Umahi is in-charge of all the activities in the state and the fake direct labour system he introduced in Ebonyi state is being handled by his close associates so that the proceeds from whatever contract or contracts that has been awarded would go back to him. Sincerely we would suggest to the speaker of Ebonyi state House of Assembly, Hon Francis Nwifuru to read Viewers Corner’s past articles for more updates about governor David Umahi’s activities in Ebonyi state, that is if you truly claim that you don’t know what is happening in your state (Ebonyi). Blaming the commissioners is not right at this moment, they can only be blamed if they have been given all the necessary opportunities and freedom to execute their jobs in the state and if they fail to perform, then only on that aspect can blame be apportioned to them but as it is now, their hands are tied. They are just there as commissioners but the real person in-charge of all the contracts and execution of all the activities in Ebonyi state is governor David Umahi so you should please direct your blames to him.
Another terrible aspect is that governor David Umahi does things with impunity and has turned Ebonyi state to his own personal business outfit but one thing we know for sure is that governor David Umahi will not be in power forever. We also believe that God Almighty shall bring a good leader for the people of Ebonyi state who would cherish and care for them. Governor David Umahi is among the governors in Nigeria that do not care about the welfare of the people he is leading based on our findings, which is very wrong. We believe that if the allocation he gets monthly from the federal government including the internally generated revenue from the state is properly used, Ebonyi state people would be comfortable but when almost half of what is received from the federal government is diverted to personal pocket then it becomes difficult to plan and execute viable projects in the state. Once again we (Viewers Corner) would advise the speaker of Ebonyi state House of Assembly, Hon. Francis Nwifuru to direct his blames to governor David Umahi and not the commissioners.
