One thing that is so troubling in the continent of Africa is that the leaders themselves are not being honest to each other and in this situation, achieving a lasting peace in the continent may be very difficult. Again the quest for power has ruined various countries in the continent (Africa) and most of these leaders in the continent has deliberately refused to obey the constitution of their various countries. After serving the required tenure as specified by the constitution of their countries, they simply do not want to step down, this attitude is happening in most of the countries in Africa. This is not good for development and democracy just like we have seen in Burundi, the self imposed president Pierre Nkurunziza has refused to step down after serving his required terms in office as specified by the constitution of the country (Burundi). His refusal to step down and obey the constitution of the country sparked the terrible unrest in the Burundi and since the problem started, over four hundred people have lost their lives and many displaced. All efforts made by the African Union to persuade the self imposed president of Burundi, Pierre Nkurunziza to respect the constitution of his country proved abortive and now he has refused the African Peace Keeping Force from coming into the country to protect the innocent citizens of Burundi that are being beating and killed on daily basis. The disturbing aspect of it is that other African leaders are playing the I DON’T CARE ATTITUDE because almost all of them are guilty of that same offence.
We (Viewers Corner) would continue to appeal to the African leaders to have a change of mind and persuade the self imposed president of Burundi,
Pierre Nkurunziza to step down or accept the African peace keeping force to come into his country (Burundi) so that they can protect the lives of the innocent citizens of the country. These are human beings who are being beating and killed on daily basis, this is very wrong and unacceptable.
