WORLD NUMBER ONE, SERENA WILLIAMS BEATS ANGELIQUE KERBER TO WIN 22ND GRAND SLAM AT 2016 WIMBLEDON.

Serena Williams, the 34-year-old world number one won her 22nd Grand Slam singles title and seventh Wimbledon by defeating German fourth seed, Angelique Kerber on Saturday at the just concluded 2016 Wimbledon. She won with 7-5 6-3 against Angelique Kerber. Kerber defeated Serena’s elder sister (Venus Williams) with 6-4, 6-4 in a semi-final after an hour and 13 minutes match which puts her into the final of Wimbledon 2016. Kerber could not produce another shock to Serena as she has beaten Williams in the Australian Open final in January, Williams win against Kerber equal Steffi Graf’s Open era record of major titles. The Williams sisters ( Serena and Venus) later claimed their sixth Wimbledon women’s doubles title and 14th Grand Slam trophy on the Centre Court after defeating Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova with a 6-3 6-4 win.
