Buhari

Will President Buhari hand over power to a drug lord, after he executed three Nigerians for drug-related offences in 1985 as an ex-military Head of State?

President Buhari, during his military days, wanted a Nigeria where citizens of the country could live as one big family and do legitimate businesses as a way of life. But unfortunately, political leaders then took things for granted. Corruption and impunity were the order of the day, and politicians subjected Nigerians to abject poverty. Some Nigerians, in an attempt to make it big financially, were doing drugs and other illegitimate businesses, and this dented the image of Nigeria around the world. Some of these issues mentioned here, and many more angered the military regime of General Buhari and the late General Idiagbon. They overthrew the democratic government of Alhaji Shehu Shagari in the 1980s. Even though some Nigerians were not so happy that a democratically elected government was overthrown, the majority of Nigerians supported the military. As the military began to promulgate laws, they came up with Decree 4, which was a popular one then. It stated that if you carry drugs or are involved in drug-related issues, the death sentence shall be placed on such a person or persons. Some Nigerians thought it was a joke. Some were caught in the act and were judged under Decree 4. They were executed in 1985 by General Buhari’s military government. Buhari and his military government took such a decision just to redeem the already damaged image of Nigeria around the world before a spoiler called General Ibrahim Babangida overthrew General Buhari’s military government. Now hear our point: President Buhari, as a military leader, wanted to build a better Nigeria for everyone, including those yet unborn, so we are calling on him to reflect on the promises he made as a young man to bequeath a country where the present and future generations shall be proud to call their own by looking critically into the profiles of Alhaji Bola Tinubu, whom the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the president-elect of Nigeria. A man who is believed by a majority of Nigerians to have lost the presidential election, but out of greed and corruption, the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, and his fraudulent team issued a certificate of return. A man with so many negative issues cannot direct the affairs of Nigeria; this is unheard of. Hence, we are appealing to President Buhari and his government not to swear in Alhaji Bola Tinubu until all the court processes have been concluded.
