WILD ELEPHANTS HAVE KILLED FIVE PEOPLE IN BHATAR VILLAGE IN WEST BENGAL STATE (INDIA).

Four wild elephants probably strayed from their herd have entered Bhatar village in West Bengal state (India) killing five people and seriously injured one. According to the news, the wild elephants got angry when the villagers threw stones on them in order to scare them away. The forestry officials who came to the rescue fired a tranquilliser dart on the elephants, the male one died while the female and two younger ones escaped. Elephants entering Indian villages has become rampant due to the destruction of the animals’ habitat according to Wildlife expert. On February, another wild elephant entered a town in eastern India and destroyed more than 100 homes and shops.
