Presidents of various countries world wide have every right to travel to conferences anywhere, such activities is being held as many times as they wish around the world. Therefore, in Viewers Corner’s opinion, President Buhari have every right to attend any conference or visits, just like every other President in the world. We also believe that his visits should not affect his duties at home.
It is true that Nigerians are experiencing terrorism, fuel scarcity including other terrible things that are causing unrest in the country however it was revealed recently that President Buhari has given all the ministers a free hand to run and conduct the affairs of their various ministries in a more orderly manner so that effective and positive results can be achieved which is very nice but the only problem Viewers Corner observed in President Buhari’s system is that he is keeping the Nigerian public in darkness.
He needs to change that system because is not so good. He is not briefing the Nigerian people on the way forward, how the economy is performing, how much money he has realized from some of the corrupt Nigerian politicians that stole money from the Nigerian treasury even if their names are not made public but the Nigerian people need to know how much the Buhari’s administration has collected so far. This is what democracy is all about (openness). Again, President Buhari should not only send his press Secretary to brief the Nigerian people, he should do it himself by updating the people on the issues of the economy because democracy is an open system of government and not a military regime. Nigerian citizens have all the right to know his plans about the economy and what he is doing to put the country Nigeria in a better condition but all these are lacking in Buhari’s administration. His advisers should advise him on these issues, he should also delegate his Vice President to represent him in most of the International Conferences so that he can have more time to attend to duties within the country Nigeria.
Our advice to President Buhari is this, he should try his best to make his administration an open system of government where he would have to brief Nigerians on what is going on within the country and the steps he is taking to address these pressing issues that affect the Nigerian public. This is very important in a democratic system of government. He should listen to his advisers and work very closely with all his ministers because right now people are hurting and complaining as a result of fuel scarcity, no constant light as the general public would have expected it to be. Therefore, a clear direction should be given on these aspects and we also believe that they are lots of benefits Nigeria would derive from all the international visits President Buhari is attending on behalf of the Nigerian public, it would surely come in the long run.
We sincerely believe that President Buhari would pull Nigeria out of these problems the country is passing through at the moment, all what is required from the Nigerian public is patience and understanding. Nigeria will surely be fine again.
