VIEWERS CORNER NEWS TEAM IS CALLING ON THE CHIEF JUSTICE OF NIGERIA (JUSTICE IBRAHIM TANKO) TO ASK PRESIDENT BUHARI AND HIS GOVERNMENT TO RELEASE MR SAMBO DASUKI WHO HAS BEEN IN DETENTION FOR YEARS WITHOUT TRIAL.

The rule of law is about fairness, one being tried in a court of law without victimisation. Again, when the Chief justice of Nigeria (Justice Ibrahim Tanko) was appointed to office, he promised that he would move quickly to have pending cases in Nigeria deliberated on as soon as possible. We (Viewers Corner News team) expected that by now all his promises should have started yielding results. We (Viewers Corner News team) are worried that a great country like Nigeria is not meeting up on issues of human rights. Judiciary which is the power house of democracy in the country (Nigeria) is being reduced to almost nothing on daily basis, it is a sad situation. If a court of law in Nigeria can order the release of an individual held for years without trial and still, the president and his government would not honour such order, it means that democracy is in trouble in such a country. Based on that, we (Viewers Corner News team) are appealing to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (Justice Ibrahim Tanko) to kindly save the face and image of Nigeria’s democracy by pleading with President Buhari and his government to release Mr Sambo Dasuki who has been in detention since 2015. There are lots of politicians in Nigeria who may have committed worse offences than Mr Sambo Dasuki, yet they are still moving around in Nigeria till today. Look at Mrs Patience Jonathan (ex-first lady of Nigeria) who the law court in Nigeria ordered that some of her belongings be forfeited to the federal government of Nigeria which she allegedly did, meaning that those items were looted from the treasury of the country (Nigeria). Such a woman should have been given a resident in a prison facility but she is relaxing and enjoying herself somewhere in Nigeria. The former first lady of Honduras who embezzled few millions of dollar was jailed for about 58 years but here is Mrs Patience Goodluck Jonathan (ex-first lady of Nigeria) who a court of law in the country (Nigeria) has all the evidence to nail her but could not do that. Why then is Mr Sambo Dasuki’s case different? Please Justice Ibrahim Tanko, plead with President Buhari to let Mr Sambo Dasuki go or charge him to court where his faith would be known, holding him in detention without court trial is an infringement on his rights as a human being. Please let him go.
