VIEWERS CORNER NEWS TEAM APPLAUD KENYA SUPREME COURT FOR ANNULLING THE DISPUTED LAST MONTH PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

Kenya’s Supreme Court cancelled the country’s last month disputed presidential election on Friday, citing irregularities. The Chief Justice David Maraga orders for a fresh presidential election within 60 days. The incumbent, Mr Uhuru Kenyatta (55 years) was declared winner of the country’s presidential election last month (August 8, 2017) by Wafula Chebukati (the chairman of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission). Wafula Chebukati stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta got 54.27% of the ballots cast (8,203,290 votes) while his opponent, Raila Odinga of National Super Alliance got 44.74% of the ballots cast (6,762,224 votes). This is the first time in African continent that a court has nullified the vote of a sitting leader.
