A country’s annual budget and the implementation of it would always speak for the country in question. Nigeria’s budget for the year 2020 based on what we (Viewers Corner News team) know is not so encouraging, certain areas are not properly represented in the budget. We (Viewers Corner News team) expected that more funding would be given to education, agriculture and other areas of importance by cutting down on areas that are not so necessary which includes the president and vice president’s travelling allocations for 2020 which take lots of funding, it supposed to be drastically slashed down. In our (Viewers Corner News team) opinion, these areas (education, agriculture etc.) that are going to be underfunded would negatively affect the country (Nigeria) in the long run. Our (Viewers Corner News team) take on this is that the Senate before approving the 2020 budget should extensively review it and make some cut out of the budget and add it to the areas that were allocated less funds. We (Viewers Corner News team) would also like to inform the federal government of Nigeria that education is the key to nation’s building. Invest on technological advancement of the country (Nigeria) and in doing so, it would put Nigeria as among the best in the world which brings us to why we (Viewers Corner News team) objected to the appointment of Dr Ogbonnaya Onu who is the current minister of science and technology in Nigeria. Dr Ogbonnaya Onu is a dormant minister and should not have been re-appointed to office. Nigeria needs a go getter kind of minister who is highly innovative and knowledgeable in the field of science and technology to handle this job so as to create and bring values to the country (Nigeria), certainly not Dr Ogbonnaya Onu. We (Viewers Corner News team) are very sure that he will stay his tenure in science and technology ministry with no progress made. Again, we (Viewers Corner News team) would use this opportunity to appeal to President Buhari and those around him who in most times influence his decision to work more on issues that would bring benefits to the people of Nigeria because with the proposed 2020 budget, if implemented the country (Nigeria) may still face lots of economic hardship. Let the areas that need public attention be given more funding to ease the pains people are passing through on daily basis in the country (Nigeria).
