The Venezuela government has destroyed about 2,000 shotguns and pistols in a Caracas city square on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in a campaign to fight high rate of murder in the country. According to the information our correspondent gathered, Nestor Reverol (the new interior minister) relaunched gun control campaign in order to rid the country (Venezuela) considered as one of the world’s most crime-ridden countries from high rate of murder. The government wants to disarm the Venezuelans from deadly weapons through seizing their guns and a voluntary program to swap guns for electrical goods. The street gangs in the country mostly obtain these deadly weapons from the police either by stealing them or buying them from corrupt officers according to report. The government also bought laser technology to mark ammunition which will help to keep records of bullets given to police officers in the country.
