The United States officials on Friday, 26 February released intelligence report, implicating Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jamal Khashoggi’s Murder. The intelligence report stated that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved the horrifying murder and dismemberment of Jamal Khashoggi (the Washington Post journalist). It was reported that within weeks of Khashoggi’s assassination, the U.S intelligence community concluded that the Saudi Crown prince was responsible, but ex-president Donald Trump used his veto power to block congressional efforts to punish the Saudis by cutting off weapons sales and United States support for Saudi Arabia’s military campaign in Yemen. Ex-president Donald Trump defended the prince in the public and United States continued selling military arms worth millions of dollars to the kingdom. President Joe Biden in keeping with his pledge to prioritize human rights promised to release the intelligence community’s findings on Khashoggi’s killing. Last year, a court in Saudi Arabia convicted eight men for the murder and sentenced five of them to death. The punishment was later commuted. Khashoggi’s family members released a statement, saying that they have forgiven the killers. On 2 October 2018, Jamal Khashoggi (Washington Post journalist and a critic of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s authoritarian power) was murdered and dismembered inside Saudi Arabia’s consulate in Istanbul (Turkey). His assassination drew international outrage.
