UNITED STATES IMPOSED VISA BAN ON SEVERAL SENIOR OFFICIALS OF DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO.

Viewers Corner News correspondent was told that visa ban had been imposed recently on several top officials of Democratic Republic of Congo for corruption tied to the country’s electoral process. According to the report, the names of the individuals were not revealed by the United States due to foreign policy considerations. This ban will send strong warning to the government of Democratic Republic of Congo led by President Joseph Kabila who refused to step down from office after his tenure has elapsed, that there is need for a peaceful transfer of power in his country. Democratic Republic of Congo scheduled to hold her general elections on 23 December 2018, though many are of the opinion that President Joseph Kabila may delay the elections in order to seek a third term. The country’s general elections were originally scheduled to be held on 27 November 2016 but it was postponed by the incumbent President Joseph Kabila. President Joseph Kabila came into power as the president of Democratic Republic of Congo in January 2001, ten days after his father (ex-president Laurent-Désiré Kabila) was assassinated and according to the country’s constitution, the second and final tenure of President Kabila expired on 20 December 2016.
