A 40 year old Alabama inmate, Torrey Twane McNabb was on Thursday night (October 19, 2017) put to death by Alabama for killing a Montgomery police officer (Anderson Gordon) in 1997. According to the information our correspondent gathered, Torrey Twane McNabb shot Anderson Gordon five times as the police officer sat in his patrol car after arriving at a traffic accident McNabb caused while fleeing a bail bondsman. McNabb before his death was one of the inmates who sue the state (Alabama) over its lethal injection method. In the lawsuit, the inmates argued that Alabama’s lethal injection procedure is inhumane, that the sedative midazolam does not reliably render a person unconscious before subsequent drugs stop their lungs and heart. McNabb’s lawyer argued that it would be inappropriate to carry out the execution while proceedings continue in McNabb’s lawsuit but U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the execution could go on.
