To eradicate corruption in Nigeria, a severe penalty against such an evil practice should be put in place. Ex-governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu of Abia State as a case study.

Ex-governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu of Abia State is among Nigeria’s most corrupt ex-governors. We have written articles about his corrupt activities while serving as governor of Abia State. The governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, after conducting a comprehensive audit of the state, discovered that over a hundred billion naira in non-existing projects were awarded by ex-governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu while serving as governor of Abia State. Meaning that ex-governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu allegedly looted the Abia State treasury to a zero point. If it were in other countries with zero tolerance against corruption, by now ex-governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu would have been put on trial, and if convicted, he could face death penalty or a life in jail, which is the best judgment for this type of crime. The same goes to ex-governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, who allegedly looted billions of Kogi State naira. Ex-governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State is also on the list of these corrupt ex-governors of Nigeria who looted the treasury of their states. We are therefore appealing to Nigerians not to hide whoever looted the treasury of their states, even if such ex-governors come from their tribes. Expose them so that others will learn not to steal public money but to use it to better the lives of the people in their states. Again, corruption does not know any tribe; the money those ex-governors stole belongs to all the people of their various states, and if such huge sums of money had been invested in their states, it would have created jobs for the unemployed, but unfortunately, these ex-governors stole them, leaving the people of their states in abject poverty, which is sad.
