For quite sometime now, Mr.Asari Dokubo has not been talking but recently he allegedly asking the vice president of Nigeria (Professor Yemi Osinbajo) not to visit Ijaw community anymore, that the oil in the community belongs to the Ijaw people. Honestly such statement is not right because Ijaw community is part of Nigeria. We believe that anywhere mineral resource is found in Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians, whether it is in the north, east, west or south. It is true that the past leaders neglected Niger delta where most of the natural resources are coming from which is bad. Somehow it is not the fault of president Buhari and his government but the blame should go to the past leaders most especially P.D.P/Goodluck Jonathan’s led government who had every opportunity to rebuild the Niger delta region where he came from but was unable to do so perhaps because of lack of foresight. Even during ex-president Goodluck Jonathan era, majority of the community had no good sources of water supply etc. which president Buhari’s government has already been given to those communities and has also promised to do more for them which is nice. What P.D.P/Goodluck Jonathan’s led government did in the past was sharing money to some elders in the Niger delta area of the country (Nigeria) and ignored the ordinary people of the community. Again ex-president Goodluck Jonathan was once a vice president and later became the president of the country (Nigeria), he should have used his good office to create infrastructures in that region of the country (Nigeria) which he failed completely to do and now president Buhari’s government has mandated some exceptional individuals headed by the vice president of Nigeria (Professor Yemi Osinbajo) who is a great leader to find a lasting solution to the problems of Niger delta which we believe he can coordinate very well. It is nice that vice president (Yemi Osinbajo) and his group should be giving the chance to put things right in the Niger delta area of the country as directed by president Buhari’s government. If we look at the activities of the vice president (Professor Yemi Osinbajo), this few weeks he led the country (Nigeria) when president Buhari was away on medical vacation, he did absolutely well. He also has a listening ear, he cares about the welfare of the poor people and has visited lots of communities within the country (Nigeria) to assess the true nature of their problems which is nice. We (Viewers Corner News) are appealing to Mr Asari Dokubo to give peace a chance and assist those individuals mandated by president Buhari’s government (headed by Professor Yemi Osinbajo) to bring a lasting solution to the problems of Niger delta. Nigeria is a great country and should unite themselves as one big family. Fighting each other can only bring set-back which is an obstacle to development, please let us give peace a chance.
