President Buhari’s second and final tenure of office is going to be a test case for All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2023, most especially the way his government is handling corruption issues and freedom of the press including others. No doubt about it President Buhari’s government has performed better than all the governments put together before he came to office as the president of Nigeria, but there are lots of issues which his government is not handling as it should be. In the past, we (Viewers Corner News team) wrote articles based on our findings concerning the mismanagement of funds in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) which much attention was not given to that ministry. Before President Buhari came to office, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was an ATM ministry for those corrupt officials working there, starting from the lowest worker to the man on top. They used the commission to enrich themselves and their friends. Politicians from various political parties became close friends to the ministry and started different games to make money, leaving those that needed help the most to suffer severe hardship. Some contractors who worked for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) up till today have not been paid their money which is not right. Corruption was huge in that ministry (Niger Delta Development Commission) which some senior members of All Progressives Congress (APC) might have benefited from, hence they are not doing anything to stop such evil practice. Now minister Godswill Akpabio who is in-charge of that ministry (Niger Delta Development Commission) is saying the same thing we (Viewers Corner News team) have been talking about which is corruption and negligence in NDDC, it was alleged that some members of All Progressives Congress (APC) are trying to frustrate minister Godswill Akpabio’s good intention to execute his job properly in Niger Delta, perhaps because he has refused to play dirty games with them. Again, since the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was established, no proper development was recorded, it was corruption all through. Now that President Buhari’s government who we (Viewers Corner News team) believe has zero tolerance for corruption is in power, his government is not acting fast enough to bring those who mismanaged funds of that ministry (Niger Delta Development Commission) to face trial. They should come and explain to the Nigerian public what they did with all the billions of Naira budgeted for the Niger Delta Development Commission so that they can execute projects in that region. However, we (Viewers Corner News team) shall continue to write about this until proper attention is given to the Niger Delta region. Viewers Corner News team is also calling on all Nigerians most especially people of the Niger Delta to hold their leaders from that region accountable for all the manipulations going on in that area because huge amount of money budgeted to develop Niger Delta region went into private pockets which we (Viewers Corner News team) hope minister Godswill Akpabio and the federal government of Nigeria would help fish out those behind such evil practice and also make sure that money meant to execute subsequent projects in Niger Delta region does not fall into private hands again. Corruption till today is the number one killer disease which is bringing Nigeria backward, therefore everyone should join hands to eradicate it completely. President Buhari is trying his best on the issue of corruption but there are lots of people around him and in his government including his political party (APC) who are very corrupt. They are the ones dragging the good works of President Buhari’s government backward which we (Viewers Corner News team) hope he would understand soon and take action.
