THOSE CALLING ON PRESIDENT BUHARI TO APPOINT DR OGBONNAYA ONU (EX-MINISTER OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY) AS THE SECRETARY TO THE GOVERNMENT OF THE FEDERATION (SGF) ARE SAYING SO OUT OF SENTIMENT AND IGNORANCE WHICH IS NOT THE WAY NIGERIA CAN GROW AND GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

Emotion and sentiment have no place when it comes to issues of governance so we (Viewers Corner News team) are calling on President Buhari to ignore those group of people requesting that he appoints Dr Ogbonnaya Onu (ex-minister of science and technology) as the Secretary to the government of the federation. Dr Ogbonnaya Onu in the past four years did not perform up to expectation in his ministry (ministry of science and technology), therefore it is not right to appoint him in such sensitive position. Time has come for Nigerians to leave emotion and sentiment aside and go for merit by asking leaders in authorities to appoint individuals who can do the job and not because of where they come from. Appointing those who can not perform the job properly can not move the country (Nigeria) to the next level. We (Viewers Corner News team) are appealing to President Buhari not to give Dr Ogbonnaya Onu (ex-science and technology minister) any new post because when he was the minister of science and technology, there was no achievement reported in his ministry just like most past ministers but if it becomes very necessary that he should get a post, then Ambassadorial position may be alright for him. He was a minister who went to work on daily basis without much plan on how to use his position to move the country (Nigeria) forward. On the other hand if it is necessary that someone from the south east shall be appointed Secretary to the government of the federation based on quota system, there are more qualified people who are great members of All Progressives Congress (APC) to be considered, certainly not Dr Ogbonnaya Onu. He is not the type of leader Nigeria needs at this point to move the country (Nigeria) to the next level.
