THIS IS NOT REALLY A GOOD TIME FOR MARIA SHARAPOVA, THE UNITED NATIONS HAS SUSPENDED HER AS A GOODWILL AMBASSADOR OF THE ORGANIZATION.

Maria Sharapova, the 28-year-old five-times grand slam winner and the highest-paid woman in world sport has been suspended as a goodwill ambassador by the United Nations until the outcome of the investigation into her case is revealed. Maria Sharapova admitted that she had tested positive for the banned substance (meldonium) at the 2016 Australian Open and may face a ban of four years depending the outcome of an investigation by the International Tennis Federation. She became the goodwill ambassador of UN Development Programme (UNDP) in February 2007 and she worked with the organization in helping the survivors of 1986 Chernobyl disaster. Not only the United Nations who suspended Maria Sharapova after her announcement at a press conference on March 7, 2016 for testing positive to meldonium, the Swiss watchmaker (TAG Heuer), Nike (the world’s largest sportswear maker) and German luxury car maker (Porsche) have all withdrew their relationship with her.
