THIRTEEN TAIWANESE NATIONALS HAVE BEEN SENTENCED TO PRISON BY CHINA FOR TELECOM FRAUD.

Thirteen Taiwanese nationals who were extradited from Kenya have been sentenced to between two and 15 years in prison for telecom fraud by a court in China. Following the group’s sentencing, questions have been raised on how to deal with Taiwanese arrested abroad as Taiwan sees itself as a sovereign nation after 1949 civil war which divided China and Taiwan, but China considers Taiwan as a breakaway province that is part of its territory. Viewers Corner News correspondent gathered that people were protesting in Taipei demanding that Taiwanese suspected of committing fraud abroad should be returned to Taiwan for prosecution rather than taking them to China.
