The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has unanimously banned Russia from Olympic games for four years on Monday, 9 December after the agency said that Russia had tampered with laboratory data by planting fake evidence and deleting files linked to positive doping tests which could have helped identify drug cheats. This means that Russia will not participate in Olympics and world championships for four years. The World Anti-Doping Agency also said that clean Russian athletes can compete at major international sporting events without their flag or anthem for four years, as was the case in the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. Though the country (Russia) has tried to showcase itself as world’s sport power, it has been involved in doping scandals since 2015 that WADA found evidence of mass doping in Russian athletics. According to the information our correspondent gathered, the condition for the reinstatement of Russian anti-doping agency (RUSADA) which was suspended in 2015 due to the athletics doping scandal but reinstated last year is if Russia will provide an authentic copy of the laboratory data. The Russian anti-doping agency (RUSADA) accreditation has also been stripped due to the sanctions.
