Justice Ahmed Mohammed was the trial Judge in-charge of the case involving former governor of Benue state, Mr. Gabriel Suswam and his finance commissioner, Mr. Omodachi Okolobia. They were alleged to have embezzled 3.1 billion Naira from proceeds of the sale of shares owned by Benue State Government while in office but information reaching Viewers Corner News revealed that the trial Judge (Justice Ahmed Mohammed) was said to have been compromised in that case which means an honest judgement may not be delivered. That was why he has to step down whether is true or not, he has made the right decision by withdrawing from trying the case because no matter how the case may be decided upon assuming he is still there, it would never go down well in the public mind because of the allegation against him (Justice Ahmed Mohammed).
Judiciary is a very important aspect in any society and should always maintain its credibility at all times. Any country of the world that has a judiciary system that is not functioning properly would always lag behind therefore it is very important for judges to always avoid any situation that would bring scandal into their system because the general public rely so much on them to deliver honest judgement at all times. If these qualities are lacking then the protection and safety of the general public may be at risk.
