According to multiple reports, the U.S intelligence believed that the plane (Flight 752) belonging to Ukraine International Airlines that crashed shortly after taking off from Iran’s Imam Khomeini airport on Wednesday was mistakenly shot down by Iranian missile, as the country’s surface-to-air missile systems were active at the time of the crash. The plane crashed shortly after Iran fired a barrage of ballistic missiles at the facilities housing U.S and coalition forces in Iraq in retaliation to the United States drone strike that killed Major General Qassem Soleimani last week Friday near Baghdad airport. The United States intelligence detected anti-aircraft radars turning on before the crash and satellites also detected two infrared blips thought to be SA-15 missiles, followed quickly by another blip that was suspected to have caused the aircraft explosion. The plane (Flight 752) crashed on Wednesday, 8 January outside Tehran, killing all 176 people on board (82 Iranians, 63 Canadians, 11 Ukrainians, 10 Swedes, four Afghans, 3 Germans, and 3 British).
