THE UNITED STATES HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES VOTED TO LIMIT PRESIDENT TRUMP’S MILITARY POWERS AGAINST IRAN.

The United States House of Representatives voted on Thursday to limit President Donald Trump’s military actions against Iran. According to the report our correspondent gathered, the resolution was introduced by Rep. Elissa Slotkin, a Democrat from Michigan and passed with a vote of 224 to 194. The resolution directs President Trump to seek approval from Congress before ordering any further military action against Iran. The resolution stated that “future military action against Iran would require a declaration of war by Congress, unless such use of the Armed Forces is necessary and appropriate to defend against an imminent armed attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its Armed Forces consistent with the requirements of the War Powers Resolution”. Senator Tim Kaine has also introduced similar proposal in the Senate. Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House stated that the new war powers resolution is demanding President Trump not engage in military action against the Islamic republic unless authorized by Congress. The vote came days after President Trump approved a U.S drone strike that killed top Iranian commander (Qassem Soleimani), thereby increasing tensions between the United States and Iran. At a re-election campaign rally in Toledo (Ohio), President Trump ridiculed the Democrats and mocked the resolution. Trump said that he needs no one’s blessing to launch attack. He also insisted that Qassem Soleimani was actively planning new attacks.
