THE UNITED PARCEL SERVICE INC. (UPS) HAS BEEN FINED 247 MILLION DOLLARS BY UNITED STATES COURT FOR SHIPPING CIGARETTE ILLEGALLY.

The United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) has been ordered by U.S. court to pay fines of $247 million in damages and penalties for shipping cigarettes illegally. According to the report, United Parcel Service has shipped since 2010 hundreds of thousands of cartons of untaxed cigarettes in New York state and City illegally. New York state is awarded $165.8 million and plaintiff New York City is awarded $81.2 million. UPS said that the ruling of Judge Katherine Forrest of Manhattan was harsh and the company will appeal the court’s judgment.
