THE UNITED KINGDOM’S SUPREME COURT RULED THAT BORIS JOHNSON ACTED UNLAWFULLY WHEN HE SUSPENDED THE PARLIAMENT.

The United Kingdom’s highest court ruled that the suspension of the UK Parliament was unlawful, void and has no effect. The Supreme court stated that Boris Johnson acted unlawfully in his action and this is a major blow to the Prime Minister (Boris Johnson) who had suspended parliament for five weeks. John Bercow, the Speaker of the House of Commons announced that Parliament will reconvene its current session on Wednesday, 25 September 2019. Boris Johnson said that he strongly disagreed with the court’s ruling, but that parliament would reopen. He also said that he would seek another suspension. Boris Johnson who has suffered series of defeat after losing his parliamentary majority and ability to govern through the legislature, suspended the country’s parliament five weeks before the October 31 deadline for the United Kingdom to leave the European Union. After the court’s judgment on Tuesday, pressure was mounting on Boris Johnson to resign.
