Viewers Corner News correspondent in Kyiv reported that the Ukrainian government and pro-Russia separatists in eastern Ukraine have swapped the remaining 200 prisoners. The Ukrainian authority said on Sunday in a statement that they have finished exchanging all the remaining detainees of the five-year conflict. According to the report, the 76 former pro-government prisoners had been swapped with 124 self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. The exchange took place at the checkpoint of Mayorsk, near the town of Horlivka (a demarcation line between Ukraine and the pro-Russian separatists). The controversial prisoner swap came after President Vladimir Putin of Russia and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine held their face-to-face talks on 9 December 2019 in Paris which was mediated by the French president and German Chancellor. The two leaders (President Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy) during the summit agreed to take some measures, including prisoner swap in order to de-escalate the war that claimed the lives of over 13,000 people.
