We (Viewers corner) have heard and seen in most cases negative criticisms against president Buhari’s government for not doing enough in bringing the economic hardship in Nigeria under control, this is quiet true but some of those individuals who are carrying out these negative statements have not honestly studied how the nation came to this point of economic hardship. The point Viewers corner is trying to make here is that during election campaigns, much data or statistics were not made known to any aspiring presidential hopefuls until when the winner sits on that chair as the president of the country (Nigeria), this is one aspect. In Nigerian system, everyone knows that there are corruption everywhere which was the foundation of the past governments that governed Nigeria but the extent of damages done were not known until the President occupy that seat as the president of the country (Nigeria). So when president Buhari and his government took over, what they saw was not what they thought, the rate of corruption was so enormous which his government is doing perfectly well to eradicate. Now that his administration has inaugurated a special panel to try some of those high profile cases, these are individuals who do not care whether the other Nigerians live or not but only to enrich themselves and their family members which is very wrong. With this special panel, it would speed up cases and then recover most of the stolen wealth from these corrupt politicians. Again these things take time to achieve and there is no government anywhere in the world that can function effectively without money. We (Viewers corner) are quite certain that if all the stolen wealth are properly recovered, it would go a long way in creating better infrastructures for the Nigerian people.
The only advice we (Viewers corner) have for president Buhari’s government is to be fair in his appointments to various offices in the country (Nigeria), he should always show that spirit of one Nigeria. There should be no sentiment or favouritism to one group or tribe, if his government can maintain this standard (Fairness) then his fight against corruption would be credible and generally acceptable. We (Viewers corner) would also use this opportunity to plead with president Buhari and his government to create employment for people in the country (Nigeria), if this is not adequately planned and implemented, it may create huge problems for the country like we have seen today. The rate of crime is on the high side, all these are as a result of unemployment in the country but if issues of employment is addressed properly and other basic amenities created in the country (Nigeria) which would enable the citizens of Nigeria live a normal and happy life then the rate of crime will definitely go down drastically. We (Viewers corner) pray and hope president Buhari’s government achieve all these as time goes on.
