The recent collapse of the Ikeja police barracks in Lagos (Nigeria) gave Viewers Corner News team the opportunity to conduct a working tour of various Nigerian police barracks across the country. We discovered that most building housing the Nigerian police personnel across Nigeria is nothing to write home about. In as much as everyone is accusing the Nigerian police of bribery and corruption, certain issues concerning the police force should have to be looked into. These are human beings trying to keep peace in the country (Nigeria), they deserve to be cared for no matter the circumstance. Most of the police barracks we visited in Nigeria are so old and need a re-touch just like that of Ikeja police barracks that collapsed recently. Such building is what you see in most police barracks housing the Nigerian police personnel across the country. The reason those buildings were like that could be traced to the I don’t care attitude of our leaders, please provide comfort for the law enforcement agents in Nigeria and they would work properly. We are appealing to president Buhari and his government to make provision to construct more buildings for the Nigerian police force across the country (Nigeria) and the old ones renovated so as to avoid those building from collapsing. We would also plead with the police public relations division to introduce more of “take care of your environment attitude” in the police barracks across the country (Nigeria) because the barracks where the Nigerian police officers are living are so dirty. Paper bags thrown everywhere around the barracks thereby blocking the free flow of water. The gutters are so dirty and do not flow at all. These are all safe haven for mosquitoes and the end result is different sorts of diseases could emerge and attack those living in that environment. Our advice to the Nigerian police is please try and clean your environment always and be free from harmful diseases that may attack your system. Stay fit, stay healthy by cleaning your environment at all times.
