The United States Republican member, Paul D. Ryan has been elected the United States 54th Speaker, House of Representatives on Thursday, October 29, 2015.
The 45-year-old Paul Davis Ryan got total votes of 236 from the Republicans (a majority of the House) to become the Chamber’s Speaker while Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat from California had 184 votes. Paul D. Ryan who assumed office on October 29, 2015 is the first person from Wisconsin to hold this position. He succeeded John Boehner and John David Hoppe was named his Chief of Staff.
