It is becoming more and more interesting to see Nigerians speaking out against the injustice going on in the country (Nigeria), this shows that gone are those days when the big names in Nigeria would use their positions/offices to defraud the country (Nigeria) without accountability. Viewers Corner News team is pleased with such development, even if the politicians would steal money assuming, it would not be done with impunity like they were doing in the past because the citizens of the country (Nigeria) are watching on them. We are saying so because the recent protest staged by some brave people of Nigeria demanding that the Department of State Services (DSS) should raid and investigate the Nigerian lawmakers who have been using their offices to manipulate the country is a good sign that Nigerians are progressing rapidly. Normally politicians are elected to various offices as representatives of the people and not to use their positions to loot the country’s treasury. If we look at Nigerian politicians today, majority of them are billionaires living in mansions and driving all sorts of exotic cars and using public funds to finance their terrible life styles while the people who elected them to represent the country can barely feed well, this is wrong. No one is saying that politicians should not live in mansions and drive big cars, no. What we are saying is that politicians should not use public money for personal gains because it is not theirs, that money is meant for everyone in the country.
Electing politicians as representatives of the people is for them to use the available resources as leaders/representatives of the people to create better living conditions for everyone in the country and should not be used to acquire personal properties like we have seen in the country (Nigeria) today. However awareness in the country through the social media has helped to bring checks and balances in the country (Nigeria) which we hope shall increase as time goes on, where everyone in the country would be able to know when he or she is being manipulated. Once the citizens are able to understand the system properly, then we would be in better positions to stand up and fight for our rights through peaceful protests which is a more powerful tool in any democratic system of government to correct any form of injustice anywhere it exist in the country (Nigeria)
