President Julius Maada Bio

The protest in Freetown, Sierra-Leone, has created chaos in the country, which got the world talking.

Information reaching the Viewers Corner News from our correspondent in Freetown, Sierra-Leone, revealed that the people of Sierra-Leone staged a huge protest and innocent lives were lost. Properties worth millions of dollars were also destroyed. The protesters are demanding good governance. Some of those protesters who spoke to a Viewers Corner News correspondent in Freetown said that the rate of inflation in the country has reached an alarming stage. The prices of everything have gone so high and are beyond the reach of an average Sierra-leonine. The government is not doing anything to help the people of Sierra-Leone get out of economic hardship. Hence, the protest was staged to send a serious message to President Julius Maada Bio and his government. The people of Sierra-Leone also said that under President Maada Bio’s government, there is too much corruption and the promises made by President Maada Bio’s government have been thrown into the trash box. Some senior officials in President Maada Bio’s government blamed the hardship on the Ukraine war because most of the items that were being imported from Ukraine could no longer come to Sierra-Leone as a result of the war. Our take on this is that the corruption in President Maada Bio’s government is huge based on our findings, and the government is not encouraging farmers. These are part of the problem. Sierra-Leone is a very rich country with huge mineral resources but zero leadership. Recently, it was revealed to Viewers Corner News that in Sierra-Leone, a huge quantity of oil was discovered. The Viewers Corner News team is appealing to the people of Sierra-Leone to show their anger with their voter’s cards by voting for a candidate that will fix the economy of the country as the country will soon be going to an election in a few months time. Any corrupt government in Africa should not be re-elected to office. The Viewers Corner News team urges the people of Sierra-Leone and other African countries to protest peacefully because it is the right of every citizen to do so when the government derails. Destroying properties and killing one another during protests is not allowed. Those infrastructures destroyed during the protest in Sierra-Leone will cost millions of dollars to rebuild, which will in the end be a huge setback for President Maada Bio’s government, especially now that economic hardship is hitting the country so hard. Say no to violence but to a peaceful protest, which is the best method to send a message to any government that refuses to work for the betterment of the people of its country.
