Paul Kagame, the president of Rwanda started nicely in his country (Rwanda) which earned him and his government International recognition as one of the best leaders in Africa after the 1994 genocide that took millions of lives in the country (Rwanda). President Paul Kagame changed the face of his country (Rwanda) to greatness in the past which allowed majority in Rwanda to keep on voting for him to lead them. Majority in Rwanda wanted him to stay in power permanently which we (Viewers Corner News team) wrote against in the past as an International Advisers because we believe that somewhere along the line, problems will surely arise if he stayed permanently in office as majority had wanted. Now those things we (Viewers Corner News team) objected to in the past are manifesting.
In a democratic system of government, change is always required. No leader should be in office permanently no matter how good the leader may be in his or her job. It is better to serve a specific period of time in office which would not be too long and hand over to the next leader after an election has been properly conducted. This would give room for change as part of a democratic process, but in Rwanda today president Paul Kagame has taken the laws of the country in his own hands by throwing people into jail and some of them are opposition leaders who were trying to air their views on various issues.
Recently, Viewers Corner News correspondent in Kigali (Rwanda) gathered that Diane Rwigara, a great woman who is well liked in Rwanda and a presidential hopeful with lots of beautiful ideas on how to move Rwanda forward has been thrown into jail by president Paul Kagame and his government. Her (Diane Rwigara) offence was that she declared to contest for the presidency which angered president Paul Kagame and his group. They cooked up some terrible stories against Diane Rwigara and later she was disqualified from contesting the election as at that time but it did not end there. President Paul Kagame and his government went ahead and sent her mother (Adeline Rwigara) and sister (Anne Rwigara) to jail, intimidating the entire family. Now Diane Rwigara has been jailed without due process and all our (Viewers Corner News team) efforts to reach those responsible for the case in Rwanda proved abortive. However, we (Viewers Corner News team) shall continue to seek for answers until Diane Rwigara and her family are released including other political prisoners locked up without due process in the country (Rwanda).
On this note, we (Viewers Corner News team) are calling on Africa Union (AU), the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), the United States of America (USA) and other countries of the world to ask president Paul Kagame of Rwanda to urgently release Diane Rwigara and her family including every political prisoner held in Rwanda prisons. These are politicians doing their jobs in line with the democratic principles based on our (Viewers Corner News team) findings, they have no reason to be in the prison. This is intimidation and we (Viewers Corner News team) ask that they should be released immediately.
Honestly, our (Viewers Corner News team) worries are; if intimidation of this sort continues in Rwanda, different rebel groups could be formed in the country (Rwanda) and before you know it, fight may start. The people of Rwanda suffered so much pains in the past and do not need any form of intimidation or fight anymore, hence we (Viewers Corner News team) are calling on the world to please take action now before it is too late.
