Viewers Corner News correspondent in New York reported that the notorious drug lord, Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera popularly known as “El Chapo” has been sentenced to life in prison plus thirty years on July 17 in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn, New York. El Chapo was found guilty on all 10 counts and he was also ordered to forfeit $12.6 billion. The U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan said that Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera did not deserve leniency. El Chapo (62years) was the kingpin running the world’s largest narcotics trafficking group and Mexico’s most powerful organized crime group (Sinaloa Cartel). He accused the U.S. government of corruption and of torturing him during his confinement. His Sinaloa Cartel moved billions of dollars worth of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana from Mexico to the United States. He escaped two maximum-security prisons in Mexico (in 2001 and 2015), Guzmán was recaptured in 2016 and extradited to United States in 2017.
