THE NIGERIAN MINISTER OF POWER, BABATUNDE FASHOLA’S RECENT STATEMENT IS QUESTIONABLE AND UNCALLED FOR.

The credibility of most ministers in president Buhari’s administration is questionable, is like most of them do not even know what to do and where to start from as regards to their duties. This is unbelievable, let us scale it down a bit. When the minister of power, Babatunde Fashola was appointed, lots of people in the country (Nigeria) were very pleased with the appointment because of his vision and good work in Lagos state during his tenure as Lagos state governor. Based on that, majority of the people in Nigeria believed that since he is the minister of power, he would deliver nicely but as it is now lots of people in the country based on our recent findings are beginning to question his ability to deliver on his job. He said recently that Nigerians can get light 24 hours if they can afford it. Such statement coming from a man people believe can reform the power sector of Nigeria is so surprising. In some African countries, light is constant, why can’t Nigeria have the same light or has this got to do with the population of the country? Certainly not. Our (Viewers corner) advice to the minister of power, Babatunde Fashola is to first study the system in line with the privatization policy, find out what need to be done and what should not be done, carry out reforms. They are lots of areas in the power sector that need to be overhauled which would at the end bring benefits to the Nigerian power consumers.
We believe that if proper plan is put in place, the issue of light in Nigeria would be a thing of the past, your ministry should take a lead on this issue of power supply in Nigeria except if there is a law asking your ministry not to do so which we are not sure that exist. Therefore we (Viewers corner) are appealing to Babatunde Fashola (the minister in-charge of power supply in Nigeria) to do his homework nicely because the citizens of Nigeria deserve to enjoy light 24 hours (power supply without interruption). They have suffered enough, kindly give them light please. How can an individual after stressing himself or herself throughout the whole day to come back to his or her home and start using hand fan or generator, this is not fair. Mosquito on the other hand is also not helping matters most especially when there is no light. We are appealing that you do something to assist the Nigerian people on this light issue so that they can live a normal and happy life. This would be possible if your ministry can carry out proper reform and do their homework nicely without the Nigerian people having to pay huge amount of money before they can get light.
