Buhari

THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT ALLEGEDLY BUDGETED 4.8 BILLION NAIRA TO MONITOR SOCIAL MEDIA IN THE COUNTRY. WHAT A WASTE.

The APC/president Buhari’s led government, which came to power through the effort of the social media, allegedly budgeted 4.8 billion Naira to monitor and control the social media in the country. President Buhari and his government are doing so because they do not want the people of Nigeria to criticize them when they go wrong. Before Mr. Buhari became the president of Nigeria, he and others used every media platform to air their messages to reach all Nigerians. Some of those messages were offensive, but the Peoples Democratic Party’s leadership that was in power then tolerated them because Nigeria is a democratic country. Now that APC/president Buhari’s led government is in power, they are doing everything possible to shut down all media platforms. Why not use the 4.8 billion naira that was allegedly mapped out to monitor the media outfits to improve electricity supply across the country? Such a huge amount of money can go a long way in bringing comfort to various homes in the country. Look at the unemployment rate in Nigeria, which has reached an alarming stage. The same with insecurity. The Viewers Corner News team is appealing to President Buhari’s government to budget money to have these pressing issues sorted out in the country. Again, if these problems (insecurity, unemployment, corruption, and electricity supply issues) are properly addressed in Nigeria, believe it or not, Nigeria will be a better place to live and do business. The Viewers Corner News team is appealing to President Buhari and his government to look into these issues and have them fixed, rather than budgeting about 4.8 billion Naira to monitor the social media in Nigeria. Such a move is a misplacement of priority and should stop. The people of Nigeria deserve to have the best and when these services are not forthcoming, it becomes the duty of all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, to point them out through social media to the government of the country which democracy approved.
