THE NIGERIAN COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION (NCC) HAS GIVEN MTN NIGERIA UP TILL NOVEMBER 16, 2015 TO PAY $5.2 BILLION (1.4 TRILLION NAIRA) FINE.

Viewers Corner News learnt from our correspondent in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has given the giant telecommunication company, MTN up till November 16, 2015 to pay a fine of 1.4 trillion naira ($5.2 billion or £3.5 billion) for MTN’s failure to disconnect unregistered SIM cards in Nigeria. Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on January 2012 directed all the telecommunication companies in Nigeria to register anyone buying SIM cards in the country under the person’s name but it was reported that MTN Nigeria has breached the NCC law by failing to register about 5.1 million  SIM cards and equally failed to disconnect those unregistered SIM cards. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) therefore fined MTN Nigeria 200,000 naira ($1,005) on each unregistered SIM cards which they expected to pay not later than November 16, 2015.
