Another country disgracing the continent of Africa is Gabon. The country has huge natural resources, a population of less than 3 million people with a system of government that transfers power from father to son, which to some people in Gabon, is called a democracy. There is so much corruption going on in that country, which is bad. Now hear this: the late president Omar Bongo led Gabon for 42 years and died in power in 2009. After his death, his son Mr. Ali Ondimba Bongo became the president of Gabon through election manipulations. He is also not leading the country properly, taking into consideration the huge natural resources of Gabon. In 2017, he suffered a stroke and almost died. Instead of stepping down as a result of his health condition, he decided to stay put and now this same president, Ali Ondimba Bongo, has appointed his first son (Mr. Noureddin Bongo Valentin) as coordinator of presidential affairs. That is, if his father steps down as Gabonese president, his son will certainly take over the running of the country, which has now become a family affair. When would the continent of Africa get it right? With this group of people parading themselves as leaders of Africa, it is going to be very difficult to move Africa forward. The only country for now that is doing very well in the continent of Africa is Rwanda and that is because President Paul Kagame is a great and strong leader. But then, who knows what will happen when he is no longer the president of Rwanda. Another leader may come and destroy the good things President Paul Kagame has built. African leaders should learn to be honest by not looting the treasury of their various countries but using the resources to better the lives of their people. This is exactly what a good leader should do, which the people of Africa are asking their leaders to do for them.
