THE LONG AWAITED PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION AND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IN NIGERIA IS TODAY (23 FEBRUARY 2019) AND ALREADY IN PROGRESS.

MAJOR UPDATES: Here are major updates from Viewers Corner News team in Nigeria who are observing how the election process is going.

8:07am: President Buhari and his wife Aisha were accredited and voted at his polling unit in Sarkin Yara, Daura (Kastina state). President Buhari went there with very few security officers as the president of Nigeria which is great.

8:58am: Peter Obi, the vice presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) voted alongside his wife at his polling unit in Agulu, Anambra state.

9:45: Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom and his wife cast their votes at their polling unit in Benue state.

9:55: Senator Shehu Sani cast his vote at Agwa Seriki ward, polling unit 20 in Kaduna.

9:59am: The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar with his wife Titi cast their vote at Ajiya ward in Yola, Adamawa State. Mr Atiku Abubabar who is not yet the president of Nigeria went to his polling unit with lots of security personnel. One thing for sure is that there will not be any intimidation based on what is happening right now in Nigeria which is great.

10:00 am: Voting is yet to commence at ward 11, unit 22, Olusomi Compound, Abeokuta-North local government area of Ogun state where former President Olusegun Obasanjo is to cast his vote and many voters are waiting for INEC officias to arrive.

10:25am: APM’s Governorship aspirant, Adekunle Akinlade voted at his polling unit, in unit 022, Ward 003, in the Motor Park area of Ago-Sasa, Ipokia Local Government, Ogun State.

10:31am: kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje voted.

10:40: Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress cast his vote at Ward 10, Iyamho in the Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

10: 46am: Chief Edwin Clark (Ijaw National leader) casts his vote at Dibeye 1, unit 7 in Kiagbodo, Burutu LGA of Delta State.

10:47am: Senator Dino Melaye cast his vote in Kogi State.

10:48 am: Nasir El Rufai, Kaduna State Governor waiting to be accredited at Polling Unit 024, Agwa Seriki Ward, Kaduna.

10:50: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo cast his vote at Polling Unit 033, VGC, Lekki, Lagos.

10:51: Mr. Gboyega Oyetola (Osun State governor) and his wife, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola voted at Popo Ward 001, Unit 002 in Popo, Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State.

10:53: Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state voting at unit D, Ogboko Ward in Ideato South LG. Imo State.

10:54: Donald Duke, former Cross River State Governor and SDP presidential candidate voted at Diamond Hill, Calabar, Cross River State.

11.55am: Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State alongside his wife (Ibironke) cast their votes.

11:56am: Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State votes at Ward 9, Unit 7, Rumueprikom in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers state.

12:04: Olusegun Obasanjo, former president casting his vote at Ward 11, unit 22, Olusomi Compound, Abeokuta North, Ogun State.

12:20 pm: Mr. Uba Sani, APC senatorial candidate for Kaduna Central cast his vote at Kawo Ward polling unit 41, Kaduna.

12:24 pm: Two men were caught with many Permanent Voter Cards in Gbamjiba, headquarters of Guma local government area of Benue State.

 

12:35: Ballot box was reportedly snatched by suspected political thugs at Ward 1, unit 9 in Iba in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun state.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State and his wife, Olufunso cast their votes at Ward 6, Unit 8, Itagbamgba, Abeokuta South, Ogun State

Chief Bola Tinubu, APC National leader voting at his polling unit in Alausa, Ikeja (Lagos State).

Delta State: Voting was delayed for almost 4 hours in some parts of Delta state due to lack of ink for thumbing.

Former President, Goodluck Jonathan with his wife, Dame Patience voted at polling unit 39, Ward 13 in Ogbia LGA (Bayelsa State).

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state cast his vote at Awa Ward 1, Unit 1 (Akwa Ibom).

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State voted at Ogunmodede Junior/Senior College, Epe (Lagos state).
