The young they say shall grow and when you (governor David Umahi) are cheating and manipulating people who voted for you to become the governor of Ebonyi state, thinking that cheating and manipulations would continue as long as you are in power, sometimes such system may backfire just like we are seeing now in Ebonyi state. Those governor David Umahi single handedly brought to power as local government chairmen in the state (Ebonyi state) are no longer in his camp because they knew all along that he (governor David Umahi) was using them to achieve his selfish desires but because they had no choice, they decided to play along pending when the opportunity would come their way, then they will let governor David Umahi know that they are not fools. This little description happened between governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state and the local government chairmen he single handedly brought to power so that they can assist him win another four years in office as the governor of Ebonyi state come 2019. In the past, the local government in Ebonyi state had caretaker committees overseeing the affairs of the local government until the law of the land (Nigeria) made it mandatory for all the states in Nigeria to conduct local government election which governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state and his associates fraudulently conducted and installed their own men. Before then, if governor David Umahi collects federal allocations for Ebonyi state, he would give only money for salaries and five hundred thousand Naira as overhead to caretaker committee of each local government area in the state and the rest would go to his pocket as alleged. Recently when he (governor David Umahi) called the meeting of all the local government chairmen, he told them to sign and collect the usual money (five hundred thousand Naira for overhead and money for salaries) which he used to give to the local government caretaker committees, something very interesting happened which we are going to share with our readers. A brave chairman from Afikpo south local government stood up and told governor David Umahi that they are democratically elected just like governor David Umahi to serve the people of Ebonyi state meaning that immediately the governor collects the federal allocation, 20% of the money should be given to the local government which is the right of the local government as the law stipulated. As this brave chairman finished speaking, another one from Ohaukwu local government supported him and said that governor David Umahi should pay the local government in the state (Ebonyi state) what rightfully belongs to them, that gone are those days when he would give the people peanuts to run the affairs of the local government and pocket the rest money for himself. The interesting part of this episode is that those local government chairmen were brought into office through governor David Umahi’s manipulations thinking that he could use them to win his re-election come 2019 but unfortunately they have changed their minds based on our findings. Again, majority of the people of Ebonyi state have said that governor David Umahi will not lead them anymore because the hardship his government brought upon the people of the state will no longer be tolerated so they have decided come 2019 to vote him out of office and now the local government chairmen in Ebonyi state have joined the people to say enough is enough. Even at the meeting, governor David Umahi could not believe that those he brought to power could rebel against him the way they did which ended the meeting without any conclusion. No matter what you (governor David Umahi) do now, the people of Ebonyi state have said that they have suffered enough hardship under your administration and would want a change come 2019.
