The Labour Union allegedly demanding four hundred thousand naira as the minimum wage for workers in Nigeria is outrageous.

It would have been very nice if the government of Nigeria could pay Nigerian workers four hundred thousand naira as a minimum wage, in line with the demand of the Labour Union of Nigeria. But then, there is a problem, considering the economic situation in Nigeria at the moment. Even with the thirty thousand naira minimum wage approved by the federal government of Nigeria, some state governments in Nigeria are finding it difficult to pay. If the thirty thousand naira minimum wage is difficult to pay, how does anyone think that a huge sum of four hundred thousand naira can be paid? Such a demand is unrealistic. Instead, the Viewers Corner News team would suggest to the Labour Union of Nigeria to ask the federal government of Nigeria to work more on the economy of the country, especially bringing down the cost of food items. The government of Nigeria should encourage local farmers across the country and make tools available for them to operate. In so doing, they would be able to produce enough food for the people of Nigeria to buy with little money. We would also use this opportunity to inform the Labour Union of Nigeria that if their demand is met, the cost of everything in Nigeria will increase drastically, which is going to affect everyone in the country. Even the four hundred thousand naira being demanded cannot buy much in the market, which may worsen the economic situation in Nigeria. So we are appealing to the Labour Union of Nigeria to think properly before making demands, so that issues of “if we had known, we would have done it differently” should not arise.
