Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna state got it wrong on issue of Fulani Herdsmen. The Fulani Herdsmen should be ejected from the forest of south west, south east and other places across Nigeria where they reside because of the terrible atrocities against their host communities in Nigeria. This group of Fulani Herdsmen that live in the forest with their cows as alleged, destroying people’s farm land, kidnapping, raping and killing innocent people of Nigeria and the federal government under the leadership of President Buhari can not call them to order. The Fulani Herdsmen move about with unlicensed AK47 guns as if they own Nigeria and can do whatever they like with impunity and no one would stop them. All these may have been the reason their host communities across Nigeria decided that they should leave and move back to where they came from which is the right thing to do at this point in time. Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna state and others who are saying that the Fulani Herdsmen have the right to live anywhere they choose in Nigeria should also put into consideration the negative actions of the Fulani Herdsmen in their host communities across the country which may have prompted their ejection order. Blaming those communities across Nigeria who asked the Fulani Herdsmen to leave their environment in our opinion is not the right thing to do. It is true that everyone in Nigeria can live anywhere he or she chooses, but not in the forest destroying people’s farm land and their crops, raping and killing people with impunity. No one would tolerate such act of wickedness in their community across Nigeria without doing something to correct it. Again, other tribes from various communities across Nigeria who reside in the northern part of the country live in town, contributing in their own little ways to assist in developing the town where they live. Those Nigerians who live in the northern part of the country do not live in forests, though they are not doing cow business like the Fulani Herdsmen but then the Fulani Herdsmen can do their cow business and still rent houses in various towns in the south instead of living in the forest with their cows and committing all sorts of atrocities. All they need to do at this point is to embrace modern farming technique which would put an end to the Fulani Herdsmen problems across Nigeria.
