It was reported that Georgia lawmakers on Friday approved heartbeat abortion ban. This bill intends to outlaw most abortions in the state and is one of the strictest abortion bans in the United States. According to the report, the exceptions to the bill includes cases of rape and incest but the victim must file a police report first, also in a situation to save the life of the mother. Abortion would also be allowed when a fetus is determined not to be viable because of serious medical issues. The bill has now moved to the desk of Governor Brian Kemp (a Republican) to sign it. The heartbeat abortion ban if signed without being blocked in the court would take effect in Georgia on January 1, 2020. The heartbeat abortion ban is a form of abortion legislation in the United States which makes abortion illegal immediately the fetus heartbeat can be detected.
