Information reaching Viewers Corner News revealed that some lawyers in Nigeria are having divided opinion on whether Nigerian government should try chief James Ibori (the former governor of delta state (Nigeria) who has successfully served his jail term in London (England). The truth is that since James Ibori has been tried, jailed and served his sentence in London, it shows that the case is over. He does not need to face another charges on that same case which took him to jail except if he has another different case apart from the one that took him to jail in London, then only on that ground can he be tried again, despite that he should be left alone. Another important fact is that if the federal government of Nigeria feels that James Ibori has brought shame to the country (Nigeria) through his actions as having been jailed in London, then the only thing they can do is to take decision against him either to ban him from taking part in any political activity in Nigeria or not and in so doing, they should check what the constitution of Nigeria says concerning this issue because in most countries of the world, once an individual served a jail term for a certain period of time be it in the country or abroad, he or she can never hold any political office again in the country in question. However this option varies from country to country but if Nigeria does not have such system, then James Ibori should be left alone to continue his business from where he stopped. A plea made by ex-governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta state recently was a good one, he told those celebrating James Ibori to let him be for now because doing so may put him into more trouble which may not be in James Ibori’s interest. Naturally James Ibori is not a bad person based on our findings but he was so carried away and took things for granted. This however would show lots of leaders in Nigeria that no matter what you do at any given time, a day of reckoning would come where you shall give account of your activities while in office. Therefore we (Viewers Corner News) are appealing to those celebrating James Ibori to let him be for now as some wise men have suggested.
