Zamfara state gold

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA SHOULD HAVE CONTROL OVER ZAMFARA STATE NATURAL RESOURCE (GOLD) AS THEY DO IN NIGER DELTA REGION (CRUDE OIL).

Some state governors in Nigeria have started speaking out on issues of natural resources in various states across the country (Nigeria) which is good. It is no longer a hidden thing that in Zamfara state (Nigeria), the gold found there is being managed by the state government. The Zamfara state keeps the proceeds and treat it as a state property while the crude oil in Niger Delta region is regarded as a federal government property. Now that Nigerians both home and abroad have started talking about it, the federal government of Nigeria should look into it, possibly have a large share of Zamfara gold and make it also a national property where a large part of the proceeds would be shared among the federal, state and local government. It is all about the progress and development of the country (Nigeria). If all natural resources in Nigeria would be seen as federal government properties no matter the region it is found, then it would be nice so that no state in the country (Nigeria) would feel cheated that only the resources in their region is being regarded as federal government property which would be used to service the country (Nigeria) while a natural resource as important as gold is seen as a state property and the proceeds also being kept by the state government in question. This would create more wounds in the minds of the people of the country (Nigeria) and in the long run, may bring disunity among the people of Nigeria.
