The late Sani Abacha is one man Nigerians may not forget anytime issues of corruption and repressive system is mentioned in Nigeria because during his tenure as a military head of states, he allegedly embezzled about 4.9 billion Pound Sterling from the treasury of Nigeria. This is according to the ones people knew about, what of those that would never be found and part of this money is still being withheld in the foreign banks which is bad. The federal government of Nigeria should go after this money aggressively and make sure that every cent is brought back to the country (Nigeria). If such huge amount of money is put back into the economy of Nigeria assuming the federal government of Nigeria is able to retrieve the money, it may lessen the burden of borrowing money from the international community to finance projects in Nigeria. The more Nigeria borrows, the more the Naira value drops, therefore Viewers Corner News team is appealing to the federal government of Nigeria to go after late Sani Abacha’s loots and also every other politician in Nigeria that has embezzled money from the treasury of the country (Nigeria). Again those countries where late Sani Abacha’s loots are kept may be playing games not to release the money which they are holding by making all sorts of excuses because the money is being used for businesses in their various countries. We (Viewers Corner News team) want to remind the federal government of Nigeria that it is their right to get their money back since it has been confirmed that the money belongs to Nigeria. Somehow those countries are playing politics by giving flimsy excuses and using the money to run the business of their various countries like we mentioned earlier, hence the delay in returning the late Sani Abach’s loots. But then they are options which Nigeria as a nation can take quickly to get their money back to the country (Nigeria) under international law which we (Viewers Corner News team) are sure Nigeria is aware of. Please go after your (Nigeria) money which is stocked in various foreign banks by Nigerian politicians and stop borrowing for now.
