THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS RESUBMITTED TO THE 9TH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY THE EXTERNAL BORROWING OF LOAN REJECTED BY THE 8TH ASSEMBLY. WOULD THIS HURT NIGERIA IN THE LONG RUN?

We (Viewers Corner News team) are calling on the federal government of Nigeria to tread carefully on issues of borrowing externally. The request to borrow external loan was in the past rejected by the 8th National Assembly of Nigeria and now that same rejected request according to Viewers Corner News correspondent in Abuja (Nigeria) has been resubmitted to the 9th National Assembly for approval. Our (Viewers Corner News team) point here is that the 9th National Assembly should carefully study the request to know if it is worth approving, though the leadership of the National Assembly has said in the past that any request presented to the house by the federal government will be granted. Meaning that everything coming from the federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Buhari will surely be approved, but then, we (Viewers Corner News team) are appealing to them to tread with caution by properly examining the implications of borrowing externally. If it is something that would bring more hardship to the people of Nigeria in the long run, then it would be better to source for fund elsewhere if possible. Again, it is easy to borrow but paying back if unfavourable conditions are attached would always prevent a country from moving forward, hence caution should be applied in this situation to avoid “Had I know”.
